440,000 Insured Under Massachusetts' Health Reform Law
"Big hats off to the business community for doing the right thing," said James M. Kessler, vice president and general counsel for Springfield-based Health New England, one of a half dozen companies that offer coverage through Commonwealth Choice.


Insurance Studies Planned
The mayor also said the city has received $360,000 in federal Medicare Part D reimbursement for the drug coverage provided to retirees in 2006 and has applied for 2007. "This is very good news and we have reduced our health insurance costs from $12.7 million to $12 million by auditing premiums and getting people to shift from the more expensive Blue Cross-Blue Shield to Health New England," he said.
