| HNE began its effort to comply with the HIPAA regulations for Transactions and Codesets (ANSI ASC X12N, Version 4010) in September 1999. Early in the year 2000 HNE procured and implemented software to facilitate the interface of the HIPAA required transactions to our systems. In July 2001 we implemented the HIPAA compliant 837 claims transaction with ProxyMed/MedUnite/NDC. In July 2003 we completed our testing with WebMD for the HIPAA compliant claims transaction. Both clearinghouses have been upgraded to exchange the 4010A1 (HIPAA addendum) with HNE.
Although HNE has made substantial progress towards achieving HIPAA compliance, we have filed for an extension to provide additional time to test with our trading partners. Testing is in process and implementation of HIPAA Transactions and Codesets will be completed by October 2003.
If you are using a clearinghouse to submit claims to HNE, you should contact the respective intermediary for information regarding the status of your HIPAA compliance.
