Smoke Free Work Environment

Health New England has been a long time supporter and partner of the American Lung Association. We support the Asthma Call Center, the Annual Breath Games Program for children with asthma, and we are currently expanding our partnership with the ALA to include a smoke free work environment initiative.

The purpose of this website is to provide you and your organization with the information and resources you need to support the adoption of a smoke free work environment. The website contains information on:

  • The prevalence of smoking among U.S. adults;

  • Legal issues regarding the implementation of a smoke free work environment;

  • A list of other organizations that have implemented smoke free work environments;

  • Key findings, based upon interviews with organization's who have smoke free environments, on what is needed to implement a smoke free work environment;

  • A list of resources available/Links;

  • Statistics;

  • A sample implementation plan and timeline; and

  • A sample smoke free environment policy is provided.

It is our hope that you will find the information useful in your plan to implement a smoke free work environment at your organization. For more information contact the American Lung Association at (413) 737-3506.
