The range of the smoke free environment policies is quite large. Some companies have implemented no smoking on company grounds, however allow employees to smoke during break times. Others have prohibited smoking on company grounds and during paid break times. Still others have implemented hiring policies that do not allow for hiring people who smoke. Several companies have implemented differential premium rates for employees who smoke. Weyco is the company that has received the most attention based on the fact that they gave employees an 18 month period of time to quit smoking and those who continued to smoke were fired.
